Cookie Policy

Work for Trades is a marketplace that connects homeowners and contractors with tradespeople. We don't employ or supervise tradespeople and aren't responsible for their work. See the Terms of Use.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) say we must tell you about them and ask your consent, except for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you've asked for.

2. The cookies we use

We currently use only one strictly necessary cookie:

Name	Purpose	Type	How long
wft_ref (referral)	Set only when you open a member's referral link, so we can credit them if you subscribe. It holds the referral code, not personal details.	Strictly necessary for the referral you clicked, first-party	60 days, deleted when you sign up
tt_session (login session)	Keeps you logged in after you sign in. It holds a random token and no personal details.	Strictly necessary, first-party	30 days, or until you log out

Because it's strictly necessary, we don't need your consent for it, and there's no cookie banner. If you block it in your browser, you won't be able to log in.

When you pay for a subscription you're sent to Stripe's checkout page, which sets its own cookies for payment security and fraud prevention. Those are covered by Stripe's cookie policy (stripe.com/gb/legal/cookies-policy).

3. No analytics or advertising cookies

We don't use analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies.

If we add any in future (for example Google Analytics), we'll update this policy and add a consent banner first. Those cookies won't be set until you agree, and you'll be able to refuse them as easily as accept them and change your mind later.

4. Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. See your browser's help pages for how.
